So I applied the latest (March??) update to see if it will cure the gremlins.
The update installed successfully , and after much faffing about and much patience I was able to re-register our profiles with the car, but had to set everything up again (took a few hours).
It then took a few hours to spring into life first with my profile and then with my wife's. Watch this space to see if the issues are resolved but as we have been using the car sparingly due to the issue that occurred later in the day when trying to charge the car.
On a timed overnight charge I got a notification from the crAPP (Kia Connect) stating that charging had ended (prematurely), followed by another message:
{Alarm} Due to a malfunction of the Battery Management System, driving is currently not possible. Please call a workshop or your customer care centre for towing.
Obviously not impressed and with kids to ferry to school I started the car next morning to be greeted by a red warning on the dash. I ran diagnostics and this is what was returned
So I called Kia and the earliest they can see the car is next Wednesday (6 days away) so its booked in. The car does run but when you connect the charger it seems to get to 77/80 % then there is a click and the car states charging is finished and wont charge any further.
So in the few months of ownership the car will have been in the garage twice, my patience and optimism for the car are both wearing thin, this is an expensive car and currently not living up to the reputation that Kia have built for reliability. We have been scared to use the car over the weekend in case we use precious range and cant recharge.
Our previous Kia Sportage never missed a beat and was 100% reliable. The only time it went to the dealer in three years was for a factory recall which took 10 minutes.
I guess its either the upgrade that caused the issue or there is some component failure - will have to wait and see what Kia say on Wednesday.
Interested to hear if any other EV6 owners have had this issue? Couldn't see anything on the Forum pages. Will see what Kia have to say on Wednesday.
